Saturday football
Newcastle did us a favour last night and as things stand it looks like a battle between us and Man U for the last UEFA place, with Spurs and Wolves as outsiders in the mix.

EVERTON vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1230)
Everton have nine games to save their top flight bacon. Among their opponents are Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. And tricky games against Leicester (twice), Brentford and Palace. Has Frankie boy bitten off more than even he can chew? Man U are fighting for UEFA qualification and won’t be easy opponents. One thing that can be said for the Toffees is that they know how to fight. Will that be enough? Draw.

ARSENAL vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1500)
Brighton’s form in recent months has seen them drop from the fringes of Europe to the fringes of relegation. Arsenal’s form, with one or two notable exceptions, has been little short of stellar. Straightforward, you’d think. Home win.

SOUTHAMPTON vs CHELSEA (1500)
The Saints will look to Brentford’s performance last week for encouragement. Can they make it a hattrick of comprehensive losses for the Blues? Draw.

WATFORD vs LEEDS UNITED (1500)
It increasingly appears that 34 points will be enough for survival. Leeds are within touching distance of that and will fancy their chances against a Watford side that look certain for the drop. There’s something impressive about Jesse Marsch and he’ll have his players well motivated for their visit to Vicarage Road. Away win.

ASTON VILLA vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (1730)
Villa are well clear of the danger zone, but will still want to maximise their return from the remaining games. You never know quite what you’re going to get with Spurs and Villa will hope to put a dent into the aspirations of today’s visitors. Draw.

*SUNDAY*

BRENTFORD vs WEST HAM UNITED (1400)
Few people expected Brentford to survive the season, but they seem to have achieved it – almost. Their confidence will be sky-high after putting four past Chelsea last week. Our confidence will be middling after drawing with Lyon on Thursday, and our attention may be worryingly divided between this trip towards Heathrow and next week’s visit to France. Something for David Moyes’ man-management abilities. Christian Eriksen’s arrival has worked wonders for the Bees, be it for his skills on the field or just his presence in the Brentford camp. This will be a hard game. Draw.

LEICESTER CITY vs CRYSTAL PALACE (!400)
Both sides are on 37 points and seem to have little left to play for this season. Draw.

NORWICH CITY vs BURNLEY (1400)
Norwich are gone. Burnley are fighting hard for survival and got a vital win over Everton in midweek. They’ll fancy leaving mustard country with all three points. Away win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs LIVERPOOL (1630)
Nothing useful to add to what you already know. Draw.

*CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND-UP*

Fulham host Coventry tomorrow in a game that should see them just two points from mathematically promoted. Today’s early kick-off sees Bournemouth add further cement to their runner-up aspirations as they travel to Sheffield Utd, who are deep in the play-off mix. Just four points separate third from eighth, and it’s anyone’s guess which of those six teams (Huddersfield, Luton, Forest, Sheff U, M’boro, Blackburn) will make it to the final play-off four, but we’ll be playing one of them next season. At the bottom, none of the three sides occupying the relegation places – Barnsley, Derby, Peterborough – are likely to climb above the dotted line.

"Spurs as outsiders in the mix". Presumably tongue in cheek and / or wishful thinking?

Re: Saturday football
Toon did us a favour last night. I think if we beat Brentford I don't see us finishing below Wolves with a 5 point lead plus a better GD, so effectively 6 points. So at least a 7th place finish, which should get you in the ECL.

A must win for Watford today, and hope Burnley can turn the screw on fatty and Everton.

Re: Saturday football
The way the media and some football sites are carrying on their is only ONE game that matters this weekend, and only ONE game we all want to watch, the 2 "bestest" teams in the whole wide wolrd slug it out, but i for one couldnt give a fuck.

This game between Brentford and West Ham is all im interested in, AWAY win...........COYI

Everton 1 up. Big deflection from Maguire.

Re: Saturday football
So far so good with Wolves beaten and Man U behind.

Villa have been very up and down but need them to have one of their good days in the late game.
Dont hold out much hope that Brighton will do us a favour at Arsenal though.

I'd rather watch Everton than Burnley.

I’m bored of Everton’s entitled attitude and would rather watch Burnley develop their status…..

Develop their status, my arse!

With luck they'll be developing their status at the likes of Millwall next season.

Coffee - Yep, hear what you're saying, it's just nice to see a so called big club suffer. No real beefs with Everton, it's a good away day, and wouldn't miss Burnley at all.

As for this game, imo we need to think about our own interests first and foremost, and an Everton win would be very good for us as for as top 6 is concerned.

Re: Saturday football
Even if Everton win can still see Burnley winning at Norwich and getting back within a point with Everton's tough fixtures to come.

Would like to see them go on the last day .... unlike when Wimbledon let them stay up via £19,000 coming into Hans Segers Swiss bank account from a far east betting syndicate via the middle man .... John Fashanu

Re: Saturday football
Ideal outcome is for Everton to win but both lose key players through injury or suspension.

Notice that fat cunt Miss blew his whistle after 1 minute of added time, when it was shown as 2 minutes by the fourth official. Everton were on the attack too.

It's hard to believe we lost both games against man u this season.

You can bet the house Moss will give them a penalty at some point

An unflattering camera angle a couple of minutes ago showed just how tight Moss's black shirt is.

Man Utd are laughably bad. No style at all, just big players with no unity.

Sancho has done nothing all game - biggest waste of money signing in premier league history?

United are shockingly bad. Agreed lowlife but maybe not as bad as that 98m Lukaku, what a bit of business that was give away Tammy and get that useless lump in.
